How thick should the leather be in a leather jacket?

Keep Protected with a Leather Jacket

Leather jackets are one of the most popular types of motorcycle apparel and the best way to keep warm while you're riding your back. Leather jackets can protect you from the harsh pavement in the event of a crash, and it will also give you unparalleled comfort while riding. When you're buying a leather jacket make sure that it s made of cowhide, because this leather is extremely durable, insulates your body heat and also is extremely strong.

Check that the leather in your leather jacket is at least 1 millimeter in thickness. It's always a good idea to have a jacket that features thicker leather, because the more leather you have surrounding your body, the warmer you'll be. If you are purchasing one for winter, than you will want to have a leather jacket that has a belt and side laces, because these types of leather jackets will allow you to tighten the jacket around your torso, keeping you warm. As for the summer months, look for leather jackets that have air vents within the front and on the back of the jacket; because these will allow wind to pass throughout it, and cool you off.
